Aurora Specialized Center for Skin Cancer, seeks through research, to commit to the principles of innovation and human quality, with the aim of contributing to new knowledge in dermatology and sharing relevant knowledge with society.

Research Policy

Research is an inherent part of the work of Aurora professionals. because it contributes to innovation in the provision of services, the continuous improvement of procedures, and the construction of own knowledge to make clinical decisions focused on evidence-based medicine, that benefit the health of patients and the population, and allow for the planning of quality services.

 

All efforts are motivated to offer an accurate diagnosis and the best management options available in our environment, prioritizing human quality, from a Comprehensive approach to the care of skin and related pathologies, according to the specific conditions of each patient.

Therefore, the research unit is committed to the creation and strengthening of biomedical research scenarios, based on the principles of innovation and human quality, the contribution of new knowledge in health, the resolution of dermatological problems, and the dissemination that society demands; all this under the principles of ethics and social responsibility, and prioritizing the safety and care of patients.

 

Human talent and collaborators

Aurora has an important academic and research trajectory thanks to its human talent, the volume of patients and the quality of the services provided, all of this by executing its own projects or in association with other institutions such as universities.

 

Its interdisciplinary group of collaborators in specialized continuing education is highly qualified and always seeks scientific and human quality at every moment of care. Several professionals are undergraduate Medicine teachers and postgraduate Dermatology teachers, have advised graduate degree projects and are linked to the UPB Dermatology research group (recognized by MinCiencias), are junior-MinCiencias researchers, and have recent publications in indexed journals on histopathology, pathological alterations in nails and skin diseases.

 

The Aurora Research Unit has a Research Committee, in which the guidelines of the area are discussed and the projects to be executed in the institution are evaluated. In the projects of interest to Aurora, guidance, advice and support are provided for the execution of the research processes and compliance with the commitments made.

 

The Aurora Research Unit It is articulated with the clinical service provision units and also with the continuing medical training and social responsibility units. Aurora has teaching-service agreements in place for students and residents to do their internships and rotations, and has organized various national and international academic events through the continuing medical training unit. In addition, it carries out social appropriation of knowledge activities from its social responsibility unit focused on educational strategies for the prevention and management of skin cancer.
